Thursday, April 4, United lost 4–3 to Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge. When they came into this game, the Red Devils were in good shape.
In their last five games across all categories, they only lost once. In that time, they won three and tied one. During that time, they scored nine goals and gave up seven.
They needed to be more consistent. One big change Erik ten Hag made was to sit star forward Marcus Rashford out of this game. This gave Antony the chance to show what he could do right away.
It took Chelsea only four minutes to score the first goal, which shocked Manchester United. When the ball hit Raphael Varane’s boot, it bounced off and fell to the Englishman.
His strong shot beat Andre Onana. Antony gave up a penalty in the 18th minute, which made things worse for the Red Devils. Cole Palmer scored to make it 2-0 for the home team.
But Manchester United had a lot of heart and made a comeback near the end of the first half. It was easy for them to score their first goal because Moises Caicedo set Alejandro Garnacho up well. The Argentine didn’t lose his cool and put the ball through Dorde Petrovic.
