Arsenal consider selling £30m flop star to fund move for top £100m striker target

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are considering the possibility of offloading Reiss Nelson this summer to fund the important transfer of Sporting’s striker Victor Gyokeres.

The Swedish international has attracted attention with his outstanding performances since his move from Coventry City, making him a highly sought after player. His buyout clause is set at £86 million.

However, Arsenal may find it difficult to sign Gyokeres due to competition, especially from Serie A champions AC Milan.

Arsenal may decide to buy Nelson to bolster their coffers and facilitate a deal for the Sporting star.

24-year-old Nelson has been relegated to the lower levels of competition at the Emirates Stadium, but he represents a lucrative asset for Arsenal as he is a product of their academy.

Brighton and Hove Albion have emerged as the main interested parties for Nelson, attracted by his limited playing time at Arsenal.

A possible £30 million bid from Brighton could see Nelson leave the Gunners as the Seagulls look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.

TEAMtalk reports that Brighton are taking a strategic approach to the transfer market, looking to acquire promising talent with the potential for significant resale value.

Despite Mikel Arteta’s assurances that Nelson will get more playing time, his opportunities are limited, prompting him to consider a move away from North London.

Negotiations between Brighton and Nelson’s representatives have already begun and the Seagulls hope to convince the striker to join them as they see him as a valuable addition under Roberto De Zerba’s management.

They see untapped potential in Nelson and want to use his talent to succeed at the Amex Stadium.

Nelson’s contract with Arsenal runs until 2026 and he has remained at the club throughout his professional career.

A move would be financially beneficial for Arsenal.

The winger last played for Arsenal on 7 January, when they lost to Liverpool in the FA Cup, suggesting that his time at the club could come to an end at the end of the current season.
