Pep Guardiola is unhappy with Mikel Arteta’s plan to sign his favourite midfielder for €65m at the end of this season

Arsenal will be very busy during the summer transfer window and they have already linked a number of players with a move to the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta has put together a fantastic team at Arsenal. The Gunners have a number of top class players who can make a difference against any team in the world, but there is always room for improvement.

The priority for North London will be a new striker, but they may also need some serious help in midfield, especially if Thomas Partey and Jorginho leave. The Ghana international will enter the final year of his contract this summer, while the former Chelsea player will become a free agent in just over three months.

Arteta and Edu will surely consider a new centre-forward, and Arsenal have been linked with quite a few big names in recent weeks.

Arsenal linked with Champions League winner

Mikel Arteta has transformed Arsenal into one of the best teams in Europe.

The Gunners are a completely different team from what they were two or three years ago, which has made them a very attractive team for world-class players.

Among all the big names being linked with a move to Arsenal is Bayern Munich’s Champions League winner, Joshua Kimmich.

The German will enter the final year of his contract this summer and there is a chance he could leave the Allianz Arena for a Premier League club.

It is claimed that Arsenal are among the five clubs that Kimmich would like to join before the start of next season.

Kimmich is thought to be available for as little as £25 million due to his contract (Daily Star). This means he is a very good option for many clubs this summer.

Pep Guardiola’s comments on Joshua Kimmich should please Arsenal fans

Pep Guardiola knows Joshua Kimmich very well. The Spaniard worked with this footballer when he was Bayern Munich’s manager a few years ago.

One of the moments that went viral was when Guardiola badly stabbed Kimmich on the pitch after a match against Borussia Dortmund in 2016.

The Manchester City boss was asked about the incident in a press conference at the time and had nothing but praise for the versatile German.

“I told him that he is maybe one of the best centre-backs in the world. I love this guy,” Guardiola said, according to Bayern Munich’s official website.

“Joshua Kimmich showed a fantastic performance. We have a very good defender who is strong in the standing game. I like to work with players who are eager to learn. He has desire, will and passion. He has absolutely everything.”

If Mikel Arteta needed more convincing to sign Kimmich, his mentor Guardiola’s earlier comments this summer should have been enough.
