Sheikh Gumi Breaks Silence After He Was Invited By FG Over His Comments On Banditry

According to o a report by Vanguard, renowned Kaduna-based Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has reacted after he was invited by the Federal Government on Monday over his comments on Bandit activities in the country.

Recall that on Monday, there were reports that the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, had told reporters at the State House, Abuja, that Gumi had been invited by the security agencies.

His invitation was due to his recent comments on the activities of Bandits in the country. The Islamic Cleric has repeatedly asked the Federal Government to stop bombing the hideouts of Bandits but rather, negotiate with them just like the FG did with the Niger-Delta militants.

However, while reacting to his invitation, Sheikh Gumi noted that there is no cause for alarm. According to him, he said, “last night, I got many frantic calls from well-wishers and journalists about a news item that I was interviewed by security. There is no cause for alarm.”

Speaking further, he said, “yes, we had a productive interaction on how to curb banditry as we are all trying to. There was no animosity but courtesy and full of respect.”

He therefore, thanked everyone for their concern and pray that may Allah protect them from evil.
